MENTAL HEALTH
Mental Health refers to our emotional, psychological and behavioral well-being. It is often evidenced by our resiliency; our ability to cope and respond to life’s challenges, realize our abilities, live productively, and contribute to our community.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL ARTS
Studies show that social emotional arts contributes to the creation of coping skills while cultivating self-expression and strengthening one’s sense of self.
Social emotional arts can also be an incredibly effective tool in helping to process different life events, thought patterns, and emotions, and can also become a powerful coping skill that can be used outside of the therapy session.
MUSIC THERAPY
Music Therapy is the clinical use of music to accomplish emotional, cognitive, physical, and social goals within a therapeutic relationship by a board-certified music therapist.
At The Adult Skills Center (TASC), clients will engage in music interventions and activities to express themselves, connect with peers, develop coping skills, and enhance their quality of life through music.
Music therapy is an accessible modality of treatment for all ages and abilities; no prior music experience or skill is necessary to participate.

ANIMAL ASSISTED THERAPY
Licensed professionals utilize a variety of recognized modalities to include animals in the therapeutic or learning process.

Developing a bond with an animal can help people develop a better sense of self-worth and trust, stabilize their emotions, and improve their communication, self-regulation, and socialization skills. Animals can provide a sense of comfort or safety, and divert attention away from a stressful situation.
TASC has partnered with Sanctuary Animal Assisted Therapy in Santa Clarita, California where clients have access to a three-acre animal sanctuary which rescues horses, pigs, goats, chickens, donkeys, and a host of other barnyard animals.
MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION
Research shows that mindfulness and meditation can reduce stress and symptoms associated with mild to moderate depression and anxiety. It can promote positive thinking and enhances resiliency.

Mindfulness training helps people to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, they are better able to manage them.
Practicing mindfulness can give more insight into emotions, reduce stress, boost attention and concentration, and improve relationships.
NUTRITIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
Nutritional psychology is knowing the important role diet and nutrition play in sustaining mental, emotional and physical health.

Learning how to identify and cook with fresh healthy ingredients helps us make choices that benefit our overall health and wellness; including a positive impact on moods and behavior
PHYSICAL FITNESS
Fitness increases confidence and sportsmanship while promoting physical and mental health.

Participating in sports and fitness activities enhances motor skills by increasing strength, coordination, flexibility and balance.
It also promotes positive self-esteem, communication and other social skills which can be used across all recreational and vocational settings.
