Animal Assisted Therapy

Developing a bond with an animal can help people develop a better sense of self-worth and trust, stabilize their emotions, and improve their communication, self-regulation, and socialization skills. Animals can provide a sense of comfort or safety and divert attention away from a stressful situation.

The Adult Skills Center has partnered with Sanctuary Animal Assisted Therapy in Santa Clarita, California where clients have access to a three acre animal sanctuary which rescues horses, pigs, goats, chickens, donkeys and a host of other barnyard animals.

The Adult Skills Center serves individuals with diverse intellectual, developmental and mental health needs. We individualize services to meet the unique needs of each client and provides coaching, support, vocational training, and employment to ensure clients achieve their highest level of independence in order to become fully integrated within the community.
