TASC’s Basketball Tournament at CSUN
Thursday, August 16 from 10AM – 2PM
at CSUN’s Student Recreation Center
This is the third year TASC hosted the Basketball Tournament on the CSUN campus. New this year was a cheer squad that consisted of TASC clients and staff. They made their own pom-poms and banners to create an energetic and positive spirit. To increase awareness about TASC to the community, the organization worked with CSUN Professors Ellen Stohl and Dr. Beth Lasky’s classes to volunteer for the event. Additionally, CSUN’s student club, Student Association for Behavior Analysis (SABA) also helped support the event.
As a lead up to the tournament, Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) hosted a fundraiser on campus selling donuts and snacks to gain excitement of the event. Members of SAE also helped cheer on the sidelines and coached TASC’s players during the game.
The crowd consisted of over 200 tournament attendees, including community partners from Enterprise Fleet Management, I.H. Communications and more.
The Basketball Tournament is an event where TASC clients and staff work seamlessly together, and clearly enjoy the day with one another,” said TASC Executive Director Ken Lane. “What most onlookers to the event don’t know is that some of our clients have had to overcome major challenges from mental health to behavioral health. Watching these clients on the court having fun is such a wonderful sight. We listen to our client’s interests to create fun and inspiring events that draw in the whole community. TASC was one of the first 100% community-based integrated programs in the Valley, and this event shows just that.
